Privacy Policy

SAYDAY (“the App”) helps you save memories with voice recordings and photos. This policy explains what information the App handles, how it is processed on your device, and how it is stored and deleted.

1. On-device processing

The App records and plays audio, edits photos, and creates memories on your device. The App does not provide a server through which its operator receives or views this content.

Japanese speech transcription is also processed on your device, and only when on-device speech recognition is available. If it is unavailable, the App does not send audio to an external transcription service.

2. Information the App handles

The App handles the following information on your device:

Voice recordings, transcription results, and edited text
Photos you take or select, including photo crop and layout settings
Memory dates, characters, voice settings, background colors, and favorite or lock settings

Recording starts only when you choose to use the microphone. Each recording can be up to eight seconds long. Photos are handled when you take one with the camera or select one using the photo picker. When preparing a photo for use in the App, the saved image is re-encoded without carrying over the source filename or metadata such as location information.

The App does not require an account and does not collect information for advertising or product analytics.

3. System permissions

The App requests the following permissions through iOS when you use the related features:

Microphone: to record audio
Camera: to take photos
Speech recognition: to transcribe Japanese on your device
Add to Photos: to save exported images and videos to your photo library

When you select a photo, the App receives the photo you choose through the iOS photo picker. You can change permissions in your device settings. Revoking a permission may make the related feature unavailable.

4. Storage, backups, and deletion

Saved memories are stored as App data on your device. The App does not provide syncing between devices. Saved memories may be included in iOS device backups, depending on your iOS and Apple Account settings.

When you delete a memory in the App, it is removed from the regular memories view. In the current version, deleted memory data may remain in an internal area on your device. Deleted data is excluded from device backups. Deleting the App removes data stored within the App, but does not affect existing device backups or copies saved to your photo library.

Temporary recording data is handled separately from saved memories and is deleted the next time the App launches.

5. Exports and third-party services

When you choose to share or export a memory, selected audio, images, or video are passed through the iOS share sheet to the app or service you choose. The recipient’s handling of that information is governed by its own privacy policy.

If you save an exported image or video to your photo library, that copy is stored separately from the memory in the App. Deleting a memory from the App does not delete copies in your photo library or in services you shared it with.

6. Children’s privacy

The App is designed for children and parents to use together. It does not require an account, and the App’s operator has no mechanism to collect children’s voice recordings, photos, or transcriptions. Parents and guardians should guide children through recording, taking photos, and choosing where to share content.
